The Visit Campidano Project Overall Loop
The entire network spans over 100 km of trails, divided into 4 distinct routes that connect the area’s most significant historical, cultural, and scenic sites. Its central location relative to other premium areas—from the Guspinese hills to the gateways of Medio Campidano—allows for a “hub-and-spoke” exploration: each route radiates outward, giving cycle tourists the freedom to customize their own experience.
Cyclists can choose to tackle each route individually, combine multiple paths based on available time and energy, or ride the outer perimeter of the entire network as if it were one single, large loop. For the more adventurous, each trail also offers natural connection points to neighboring territories, opening the door to wider explorations toward further attractions in south-central Sardinia.
San Gavino Monreale — The Heart of the Campidano Cycle Tourism Network
Nestled in the Campidano plain, one of Sardinia’s most fertile and historically rooted agricultural areas, it occupies a privileged geographic position that makes it the ideal starting point for exploring the region by bike. The town is not merely the logistical center of the trail network: it is the natural hub of a system designed to showcase an authentic rural landscape of cultivated fields, farm tracks, and open horizons where the Campidano light continuously shifts with the seasons.
Over time, the area’s agricultural vocation has shaped a dense network of unpaved “white” roads—dirt tracks and farm lanes—which are currently in excellent condition and perfectly suited for cycling tourism. This ideal terrain for gravel bikes is the system’s greatest strength, although the routes can be fully enjoyed with a touring bike, an MTB, or an e-bike, making them accessible to a wide variety of cyclists.
