VISIT SAN GAVINO MONREALE

A project for community and innovation

The Visit San Gavino Monreale project was created to enhance the territory’s cultural, environmental, and identity heritage through innovative Destination Management tools. The initiative, supported by the Municipality of San Gavino Monreale and funded through the GAL Campidano tender (Sardinia RDP 2014-2022), aims to transform the town into an organized and competitive tourist destination.

Activities implemented for the local area

The destination-building process involved the implementation of an operational plan structured around four key areas managed by Sintur:

  1. Technical-Digital Area: Development of the DMS (Destination Management System) platform integrated with the tourism website, and creation of interactive maps to digitalize cycling itineraries and points of interest.
  2. Area Contenuti: Produzione di testi originali, servizi fotografici e video emozionali dedicati a raccontare l’anima di San Gavino Monreale.
  3. Communication Area: Launch of official social media channels to promote experiences and itineraries in target markets.
  4. Coordination and Analysis: Census of local businesses, qualitative and quantitative analysis of tourist flows, and constant monitoring for territorial brand development.”

The Smart Destination Model: The Future of Inland Areas

In addition to the specific activities for San Gavino Monreale, the project adopts the Smart Destination Model, a strategic framework designed by Sintur Sinergie Turistiche for the revitalization of local territories. This model stands out for:

  • Human Capital at the Core: We do not just showcase services, but people. Every local operator (craftsman, restaurateur, or manager) becomes a “voice of the town” through first-person storytelling that highlights local history and traditions.
  • Ethics and Economic Sustainability: The model promotes a “zero-commission” supply chain. Transactions made through the portal directly feed the local economy, allowing operators to invest in increasingly authentic hospitality.
  • Innovation and Virtual Assistance: The integration of an AI-powered virtual assistant acts as a 24/7 digital infopoint, guiding visitors through itineraries, craft workshops, and traditional menus.
  • Active Participation: A process where citizens and operators take center stage, with content co-shared and co-validated, combined with specific training to ensure the community’s digital autonomy.

The Smart Destination Model represents an exemplary pilot project, demonstrating how the combination of advanced technology and human authenticity can turn the small towns of Sardinia into internationally renowned destinations.
